I'm sitting on a beach in Southwest Florida as I write this. It's about 4 hours before sunrise and the moon is snoozing under a blanket of clouds. I need a penlight to see my journal.
The palm leaves behind me are whispering a predawn sonata as they embrace the wind. Life is a deck of cards and every card tells a new story. I don't know the story a card will reveal until it's dealt.
I usually shoot in the early morning or in the late afternoon to early evening. When the sun is low, the light and shadows sing in harmony. I also shoot at night when light exposes drama in the darkness, and secrets cower in the corners. I share some of the stories on The View From Under My Hat.
I look up from my pad and see that the sun's advance-team has claimed the horizon. The sun is getting ready to climb back onto its throne where its rays will banish the darkness for another day. It's time for me to merge back into life's slipstream of light and shadow. I'm eager to see the cards I’m dealt today.
